Why AATA?

We know that you have many heating and air conditioning schools in South Carolina to choose from, and we appreciate you taking the time to read about ours. We also believe that we stand out because we begin by training people, not just skill sets.

All of our HVAC training in South Carolina goes back to the military. Our founder, Jerry Hall, served in the 82nd Airborne Division. There, he learned about character, discipline, service, and servant leadership. Those lessons served him well in life, helping him grow and develop a successful business that cared for customers and improved their lives.

Jerry and his team work hard to pass these values on to all of the students in their HVAC classes in South Carolina. In fact, these provide the basis of all the training that we do. We start by teaching technicians the importance of things like showing up on time, caring for their customers’ homes as if they were their own, being honest and straightforward with customers, and helping customers save money. All of these go far towards making technicians who are more than just their skill set.

Speaking of skill sets, we work hard at our HVAC school in South Carolina to make sure that all of our students are awesome technicians. We teach a skill, then give the students a chance to practice it. They work with experienced HVAC mentors who can give the tips, help them when they are confused or when something isn’t working, and talk to them about how a problem may present itself differently in different homes or different units. Students practice it until they know the skill inside and out, so it’s not just book knowledge.

Finally, we teach the students in our HVAC training in South Carolina to make lasting connections with their customers. We know that many customers end up feeling like their technician is there just to sell them something, and we know what turn-off that is! That’s why we teach our students to take the time to listen to their customers. We teach them to hear the needs that can underlie or go beyond the words a customer might say, so they can address these needs and help their customers meet them. When a technician offers a product or service that fits well with a customer’s needs, sales happen naturally and no one feels pressured.

HVAC Certification in South Carolina

All of our students get the chance to take the EPA’s certification test. The EPA actually offers four tests for HVAC technicians. However, our training covers all four areas, so we give students the chance to get them all at once. Students who successfully pass this test end up with an EPA Universal Certification. These never have to be renewed and techs never have to re-certify. In fact, they won’t even have to take continuing education classes to keep this certification.

For students who don’t want to try the EPA test or who already have it and are taking our course to grow in the field, we offer the AATA Course Certification. Students can take a test covering the materials and skills they experienced in class, then have this to show that they were successful.
